Patients report that the Recovery Apartments are the one component of our drug rehab program that made the biggest difference in their addiction recovery. The concept behind the Recovery Apartments was to enhance an already exceptional drug abuse treatment experience by providing patients with the opportunity to experience some of life's challenges, while remaining within a supportive drug rehabilitation environment.
Very few drug rehab programs have their own recovery apartments. While some drug rehabs may rent apartments in their community to develop this drug abuse treatment component, very few drug rehabilitation programs own their own apartment complex. We emphasize this point as addiction recovery apartment living provides our patients with the ultimate in privacy and confidentiality, while greatly reducing their risk of relapse. We can comfortably make this statement due to the fact that only our patients live in the apartments providing us the ability to manage the entire complex.
As stated earlier, the Recovery Apartments provide an element of addiction recovery not found in most other drug rehab programs. Rather than living within the confines of a residential drug abuse treatment facility 24/7, experience has shown us that patients are much better prepared for the transition home if they are provided the opportunity to reside in a "real life" setting prior to discharge from their drug rehab program. This component of our drug rehab program is not for everyone. The clinical team makes the decision to transition a patient to the addiction recovery apartments based upon clinical appropriateness. If a patient requires more structure than the apartments provide, they can remain in the drug treatment program until discharge. With our drug rehab facility achieving national recognition, our Recovery Apartments had to meet the same standards. Newly decorated, these two bedroom apartments are fully furnished and complete with dishwasher, washer/dryer, stove, microwave, refrigerator and cable television. Outside the apartments you will find volleyball and other activities, with picnic areas in the rear of the complex. While this component of our drug rehab resembles "real world living", we recognize patients are still in a drug treatment program. As such, our drug rehab staff is onsite 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide supervision, ongoing support and to enforce the treatment policies associated with our addiction recovery center.
While residing in our apartment environment, you attend a full day of therapeutic services at Lakeview's drug and alcohol addiction recovery program. The clinical focus of these groups and individual sessions is usually centered on our relapse prevention program. It is at this time, prior to discharge from drug and alcohol rehab that a person must come to terms with their own relapse prevention plan and how they will go about adhering to it. While attending the relapse prevention program, you identify and explore "triggers" of your drug and alcohol addiction, how you might sabotage your recovery and how to keep that from happening. The relapse prevention program is an integral part of our drug and alcohol addiction recovery program and the staff at Lakeview takes it quite seriously. In most relapse prevention programs a person gets to learn about relapse. With our recovery apartments, you get to practice your relapse prevention plan.

As part of our drug rehab program, the Recovery Apartments are part of the yearly survey done by the State of Florida Children and Family Services. The State of Florida inspects our apartments for cleanliness, safety and any potential health issues. In conjunction with the State of Florida, the Joint Commission which surveys our drug rehabilitation program also reviews the apartment complex to ensure that it meets the same standards as our drug rehab facility.
