Tradiciones Hispanic/Latino Community Treatment Center by Jonathan Huttner

The ethnic label Hispanic is used to describe anyone with a Spanish speaking, Latin American background. The United States is home to millions of Latin American people who have infused the nation with richness and cultural diversity. Keeping in mind the cultural and linguistic differences of Hispanics, Lakeview has introduced a special program known as Tradiciones, which provides the Hispanic/Latino community treatment for drug addiction, alcoholism and dual diagnosis.

Addiction Help for the Hispanic and Latino Community

Addiction can be described as a person having a physical and mental dependence on any substance, narcotics or otherwise, that they need in order to carry out normal activities of daily life. The addict is not left with a choice and feels compelled to take the drug to sooth the irrepressible cravings they feel, despite being aware of the negative long term consequences of drug abuse. There are several physical, mental, financial and social problems attached to the addiction. One starts spending a lot of time procuring, using and recovering from the drug. As result the individual is unable to fulfill his social obligations and often starts underperforming in school or at work. When an individual suffers from addiction, they lose interest in doing the things that they normally had enjoyed before their drug abuse, such as having an interest in hobbies, playing sports, socializing and more. A much bigger problem than these social disturbances are severe withdrawal symptoms such as: nausea, insomnia, sweating and anxiety, experienced the moment he/she tries reduce the usage of the drug.

Hispanic/Latino Community Treatment with Staff Fluent in Spanish

Tradiciones is a Hispanic and Latino rehab facility that is staffed by people who speak fluent Spanish. The doctors and support staffs are from Latin American background and hence are better able to understand the challenges faced by the Hispanic and Latin American community of people seeking recovery from drug addiction. The combination of a relaxed environment, sympathetic and efficient staff and a high-tech clinical care program has made the Hispanic and Latino Community Rehab Treatment Course very popular with the community. In Tradiciones each patient is provided with a compulsory and comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that allows our doctors to accurately evaluate his/her mental and emotional state. After the preliminary psychiatric evaluation the patient is treated to individual and group therapy and is required to participate in a number of recreational courses. This is part of the relapse prevention program and it helps the patient to cope with the stresses of withdrawal. Next the patients are encouraged to participate in a four day family recovery program. This aids the recuperation processes by bringing forth a greater desire to recover. We call Lakeview a place where recovery becomes reality!
