Detoxification from drugs does not have to be an unbearable, or even uncomfortable, experience.
A detoxification, or “detox” for short, is the medically assisted process of gradually removing one’s physical dependence on drugs. We administer detoxification medications, such as Librium, Klonopin, and Suboxone, to help reduce or eliminate withdrawal symptoms, so that the patient may remain safe and comfortable.

Heroin, cocaine, crystal meth, and prescription drugs all have a powerful effect on the mind and body; once you become accustomed to these effects, suddenly stopping can create undesirable withdrawal symptoms.
Our physicians and 24-hour nursing staff will continuously evaluate your detoxification and administer medications most suitable for your condition. Most of our patients report being “comfortable” or “very comfortable” while going through detox. Treatment with primary medications, such as Suboxone and Valium, works by substituting the abused drug with a similar, longer lasting one, and then slowly tapering it off. We also provide medications to stabilize other physical symptoms, such as blood pressure and temperature.
A major concern of someone entering treatment is, of course, giving up his or her drugs. When addicted to, say, heroin or Xanax, there is really no choice about whether to use them or not; stopping can be too painful and dangerous. Even in the face of severe consequences, the dependence is simply too great. A medical detox provides the opportunity to break clean from the physical dependence, and give yourself an opportunity to recover.
