Default What are the basic elements for recovery

It has been a while since I was able to post a message. But, today I came across an item in one of the government reports that I thought was interesting, relevant and important.

- Recovery is person-driven
- Recovery occurs via many pathways
- Recovery is holistic
- Recovery is supported by peers and allies
- Recovery is supported through relationships and social networks
- Recovery is culturally-based and influenced
- Recovery is supported by addressing trauma
- Recovery involves individual, family, and community strengths and responsibility
- Recovery is based on respect
- Recovery emerges from hope

There is a saying in the AA rooms that states, we can do together what we can't do alone. It works if you work it. Recovery is not a static place. It is an ongoing process ever changing as we, as humans, are hopefully ever changing.
