About Dr. Mark Gold M.D., DLFAPA, DFASAM

Dr. Gold is a translational researcher, author, and inventor best known for his work on the brain systems underlying the effects of opiate drugs, cocaine, and food. Currently, an Adjunct Professor and Professor-in-Residence, he is often lecturing, mentoring, and teaching in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University in St Louis. He is also an active member of the National Council for the Institute for Public Health at Washington University School of Medicine. He is an author and inventor who has published over 1000 peer-reviewed scientific articles, texts, and practice guidelines.

He has received the annual ASAM McGovern Award, DARE, DEA, PATH and White House Award for Lifetime Achievement. Dr. Gold’s 4+ decades of work have helped shape the field’s knowledge of addiction.
