Located in St. Lucie County, Port St. Lucie is a rapidly growing port city. Many people are moving to this area thanks to the abundance of work opportunities available and the beautiful weather. Despite being one of the best places in Florida to call home, Port St. Lucie struggles with a serious addiction crisis. Many residents in this area struggle with a drug or alcohol abuse problem.
Drugs and alcohol are easily obtainable in this city. Due to this reason, Port St. Lucie is always making state headlines for drug busts. Illicit drugs, like heroin and even marijuana, are being smuggled into this city. Opioid overdoses are also reaching “epidemic proportions.”
Most people who struggle with alcoholism or drug addiction often don’t even put in the effort to look for a way out. According to Port St. Lucie substance abuse statistics, 96% of those who needed treatment but didn’t get it believed that they were doing fine.
If you experience withdrawal symptoms or if you crave drugs or alcohol, you’re likely addicted. If you neglect home, school or work responsibilities, you may also struggle with a chemical dependency issue. If you’re not sure whether your recreational use of drugs or alcohol has gone out of hands, reach out to our admission specialists at 904.677.5010. We can help you figure out what it is that you need.
Did you know that 44% of all drug-related deaths involve alcohol? Alcohol abuse is a relatively large problem. It’s one of the main substances that are often abused in conjunction with other drugs. Unfortunately, the effects of alcohol can either conceal the damage done by other substances or magnify the effects of other drugs.
Those who are addicted to alcohol are prone to experiencing life-threatening withdrawal symptoms, like delirium tremens. They need to stabilize the neurochemical levels in their body as soon as possible. This can be achieved through medical detox. Lakeview Health offers many different types of medically-supervised detox options that can help anyone struggling with alcoholism wean off alcohol in a safe manner.
After successfully detoxing off alcohol, those who are recovering from alcoholism can move onto an inpatient treatment program or a partial hospitalization program (PHP). There, they’ll learn how to live a life without alcohol.
If you’re interested in putting down the bottle for good or finding alcohol addiction recovery resources for a loved one, give us a call at 904.677.5010.
Alcohol abuse is not the only issue that Port St. Lucie residents face. Drug abuse is equally as big of a problem. Both illicit and prescription opioids are a huge problem. Those who were prescribed prescription painkillers, like OxyContin or morphine, may move onto illicit drugs, like heroin, when their prescription runs out.
Heroin-related deaths are skyrocketing at alarming rates. The 2016 heroin death total was 18 times that of the heroin overdose death total in 2011.
With that said, those who are struggling with any type of drug addiction can find the addiction resources, support, and help that they need at Lakeview Health. We treat all types of addictions, from an addiction to cocaine to an addiction to heroin and more.
Like with our alcohol addiction treatment programs, patients are usually encouraged to go through medical detox before proceeding with an inpatient treatment program or a PHP. Addiction medicines used to treat drug addictions will vary significantly depending on the drugs being abused. Opiate Replacement Therapy (ORT), which uses drugs like methadone, Suboxone, and Vivitrol, is commonly used to treat opiate addictions.
Depending on the type of drugs that you are addicted to, you’ll need something different. Our team of addiction specialists can put together a customized treatment plan for you. Call us at 904.677.5010 for more information.
Lakeview Health has two addiction treatment centers in Jacksonville, Florida. You can reach our facilities from Port St. Lucie within 3.5 hours if you drive. Our facilities stand out from other competitors as we offer gender-specific treatment that addresses gender-specific issues that may lead to addiction. Our gender-specific facilities also provide a more intimate and private environment for those who are recovering.
We have two facilities. The Star for Men offers a men’s rehab program, while The Rose for Women provides substance abuse treatment programs for women. Both drug and alcohol treatment centers can treat all types of addictions. We also custom-tailor each client’s treatment program at each facility, so each client receives an unparalleled level of care.
Let’s take a look at what you can expect from our admissions process. Before you arrive at any one of our facilities, you will go through a pre-screening screening. This happens on the phone with one of our addiction experts before you arrive at our facility. Our experts will assess your situation and determine what it is that you need.
Once you arrive, you’ll go through an array of admission evaluations, like a psychosocial evaluation, a mental evaluation, and a physical evaluation. We’ll also need to gather more information about your medical history and substance use history. All assessments will be completed within 24 hours.
After you have completed all of our evaluations, we will give you a tour of our facility and get you settled in. We’ll also give you an overview of our patient handbook, so you know what to expect during your stay with us.
“Recovery is about progression, not perfection.”
Recovery takes time. Even after completing one of our addiction treatment programs, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re ready to face the world on your own. There will be temptations waiting for you at every corner. Also, it’s easy to fall back onto bad habits.
We encourage every patient to transition from an inpatient treatment program or a PHP to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) before moving onto a sober living facility or arrangement. With our IOP, patients receive approximately 3 hours of therapy a day. Those who are consistent in receiving treatment will be more likely to succeed with their long-term recovery goals.
We also offer an aftercare program and an alumni program. These programs are designed to help our patients further navigate recovery. We provide as much support as possible to those who need it. This may include 12-step facilitation programs, psychiatric follow-up, and individual therapy.
Here, at Lakeview Health, we understand that different circumstances may need a different level of sensitivity or approach. Due to this reason, we offer an assortment of specialized addiction treatment plans. Some of the programs that we offer include:
