Men and women have unique challenges with addiction.
Gender-specific rehab programs
Tailored so you receive the care and support they need

Men tend to use drugs and alcohol for pleasure rather than to manage pain or discomfort. Conversely, women who struggle with substance use tend to attempt to self-medicate chronic mental health conditions or medical ailments. Men and women also have different challenges to their sobriety. Men desire for others to see them as strong, causing them to hold back in therapy sessions. Alternatively, many women struggle with underlying trauma. This trauma may lead them to be reluctant to share the circumstances behind their addiction with a mixed group.

At other treatment centers, their staff may take the easy route for both men and women and group them together. Unfortunately, this can lead to many individuals struggling to come to terms with their addiction and not getting the treatment they need. However, at our treatment center location, we strive to separate men and women as much as possible so that each person receives the care and support they need. To that end, we offer gender-specific treatment.

Men's Drug And Alcohol Rehab Facility
Treatment for men - The Star

The Star is our male only facility that specializes in meeting the unique recovery needs of men. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, addiction strikes more men than women, but because women are more likely to seek treatment, it also kills more men. Furthermore, men are more likely to struggle with polysubstance abuse and battle antisocial personality disorder than women. As a result, it’s critical to find treatment for men that addresses their individual challenges.

Women's Drug and Alcohol Rehab
Treatment for women - The Rose

Drug and alcohol use has been on the rise for women of all ages. Unfortunately, until recently, a significant amount of the research about addiction was directed primarily at men. This lack of research may have led many women to feel isolated in their substance use. They may have thought that they were an outlier or that other women do not struggle with substance use.

In 2019, 9.5 million adults in the US
had a Mental Health issue and a substance use disorder.
Young adults between 18 and 25
have the highest rates of substance use disorder and mental health issues at nearly 8% or 2.6 million people.
Only 1.5 percent or 4 million people
found the treatment they needed.
Our dual diagnosis treatment program
Treating underlying causes of addiction

Many of those struggling with addiction also struggle with severe trauma that causes mental health issues. In some cases, these conditions cause an individual to self-medicate, meaning that they attempt to control their symptoms using drugs or alcohol. Alternatively, their substance use may have caused a mental health condition to develop over time.

It is critical to address both disorders simultaneously if the patient wants to stay sober for extended periods of time. Choosing only to treat the mental health condition will leave the person’s substance use unchecked. When an addiction continues over long periods of time, it can cause new or worsening mental health conditions to develop. On the other hand, when a person chooses only to address their addiction, they may find that they don’t have the tools to manage their mental health. As a result, they may find themselves turning back to drug or alcohol use to control their mental health condition.

With the help of a dual diagnosis treatment program, however, we can address both conditions concurrently. In other words, we’ll give the patient the tools to manage their mental health while also helping them overcome their addiction. At our Florida rehab center, we can address a range of mental health conditions.
