Texas Addiction Treatment Centers

Lakeview Health To Open New, Modern Addiction Treatment Center in Texas

By Michael Rass

Lakeview Health will bring its world-class addiction treatment to Texas in 2018. The new addiction treatment center, located north of Houston, will be the organization’s first facility in the Lone Star State.

Greg Drummond is the newly appointed executive director of the Texas center. “The new clinic will be a state-of-the-art rehab center providing partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment,” he says.

“I am excited to build and grow the presence of Lakeview Health in the Houston area,” says Drummond. “Few options are available for people suffering from substance use and mental health disorders in the area, and this center will help fill that void. The new center is expected to open in January 2018 and will be able to accommodate 60–70 patients.”

“Mr. Drummond has had an impressive career in the healthcare industry and we believe his expansive knowledge of the behavioral and mental health field will lend well to leading our newest facility,” said Roy M. Serpa, CEO of Lakeview Health.

Drummond has deep roots and great connections in the local community. “I have been in this area for over 20 years. I received my first master’s degree from the University of Houston and was the CEO of a psychiatric hospital in Houston,” says Drummond. “I have excellent contacts with medical professionals in the area, and I am looking forward to introducing Lakeview Health and their successful treatment programs to our community.”

Like other metropolitan areas around the country, Houston has a serious opioid addiction problem. People with a severe substance use disorder require modern, evidence-based treatment to increase the chances of a successful recovery from this pernicious disease.

The new center at The Woodlands will be able to rely on the extensive treatment experience of Lakeview’s team in Jacksonville, Florida. The Woodlands will be a great option for Texans who started their recovery journey with the residential treatment at Lakeview in Florida or elsewhere and who would like to continue their treatment as outpatients back in their home state. Other patients with a moderate substance use disorder may seek outpatient treatment first with fewer disruption to their professional career.

“The Woodlands facility would also be able to serve patients who require treatment for addiction and concomitant medical problems or behavioral health conditions,” explains Drummond. “If co-occurring conditions cannot be treated onsite, we would help coordinate offsite treatment for patients while they are in treatment with us.”

Lakeview Health at The Woodlands will provide the same high-quality clinical care and welcoming ambiance as the primary facility in Jacksonville. “Patients will receive treatment in a contemporary, modern environment that will be very receptive to the patient and user-friendly for the therapists,” says Drummond. “There will be plenty of open space and plenty of audio-visual support. It’s a clinic truly done right in a great location.”

Drummond has been a fan of the Lakeview Health approach to addiction treatment for a while: “We were introduced to the Lakeview vision when my wife gave a presentation at a seminar attended by Philip Hemphill, the chief clinical officer of Lakeview Health,” remembers Drummond. “We were so impressed with the Lakeview treatment model that I decided to come on board.”
