Residential Treatment Program

Residential treatment takes place on-site at the Lakeview Health campus in Jacksonville, Florida. Men and women live on-campus at the Star and the Rose, the gender-responsive programs respectively.

Before entering into the residential treatment level of care, you will likely have successfully completed detox through either our in-house medically-monitored detox or another outside detox program as well as inpatient rehab. Your mind, body, and spirit have had at least couple of weeks to begin to heal.

Going forward into residential treatment, you will have more time to focus on your recovery while establishing a relationship with your medical team, therapist, aftercare coordinator, behavioral health associates, wellness team, and peer community.

Continuing to receive treatment and residing on-campus provides around-the-clock care and support. The residential treatment at Lakeview Health is designed to be short-term. Most individuals will progress from residential to the partial hospitalization program within 2-4 weeks.

Residential Treatment Overview

During residential stay you may begin to notice that your head is clearer, your body is functioning better, perhaps you even regain an appetite, and your mood and spirit are beginning to improve. These are all positive signs that the substances that were used are clearing from your system so you can focus on developing healthy skills and coping strategies that will replace the harmful behaviors you engaged in during active use.

You will continue to attend daily treatment and reside on-campus in semi-private rooms and participate in therapeutic sessions that will help you address the underlying reasons that led to substance use. Some of the therapies will continue from when you enter treatment through your stay with us. Other treatment or therapeutic groups will begin after your medical team approves your participation – such as working with the wellness team, physical therapists, or other more strenuous activities.

In general, treatment will include but is not limited to individual therapy, attending daily 12-step meetings, receiving medical and psychiatric care as needed, family sessions (via phone), and multiple group therapy sessions such as:

  • Process group
  • Psychoeducation group
  • Expressive therapy groups
  • Specialty groups
  • Trauma group
  • Spirituality group
  • Helping men recover
  • Helping women recover
  • Relapse prevention therapy group
  • Self-awareness therapy group
  • Team building and resilience group
  • Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction group

Daily Life in Residential Treatment for Alcohol and Drugs

As a gender-responsive addiction treatment facility, men and women will receive treatment in separate buildings on-campus. All treatment and accommodations are gender-separate so there is no distraction from the opposite sex. This allows you the time and space to focus on your recovery and build the skills you will need to continue working recovery after leaving Lakeview Health.

Addressing the clinical and medical needs of each gender is important since substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders stem from different life events and circumstances for men and women. Gender specific specialty groups hone in to help you work through these factors in a safe and supportive environment.
