Dr. Cadet has been interested in Neuropsychiatry since Medical School at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in the 1970s in New York City. He then pursued residency training in Psychiatry at Columbia University and in Neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital in order to learn more about neurological and psychiatric diseases that impact the brain.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Cadet has been the committee co-chair for the Minority Research Training Program at NIH/NIDA; the Chair of the Diversity and Outreach Committee; and a member of the NIDA study group on Health Disparities. He has also been a standing NIDA committee member for minorities, women, and other underrepresented populations.
