What is an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP)?
The primary goal of the Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP) is to assist you in completing the transition to a life in recovery. Carefully, under the guidance of the Lakeview staff and with the full support of your peers, responsibility for your daily routine shifts to you. At this point in treatment, you probably have several weeks of sobriety to your credit. You’ve gained experience, you’ve had time to develop your coping skills, and you’ve tested your sobriety strategies where they matter most – out in the world. An Intensive Outpatient Program Prepares You for Life Beyond Treatment
Our intensive outpatient program is the next step on your journey. You have more time to put your new coping mechanisms to the test, but you still receive a half-day of on-site clinical support to help you prepare for what’s to come: a healthy, productive, sober life. At the intensive outpatient level of care, you live off-campus at home or in a sober living environment. You participate in many of the same of recovery groups, wellness activities, and social support meetings you did during the earlier stages of your treatment. You build on your progress by spending more time outside of treatment than in treatment.
In our Jacksonville IOP programs, you receive at least three hours of structured therapy per day. If you are at the facility during meal times, you are invited to eat healthy and delicious meals in our facility dining rooms, with healthy snacks available between meals.
Your focus now shifts to working with your primary therapist, medical staff, and any external providers to create an Aftercare plan that works for you.
Less therapy time and more personal time means that during IOP, you spend more time away from the Lakeview Health treatment center than you spend at it – but you’re not on your own quite yet. You have the full support of the Lakeview clinical team at your disposal. You spend time with your Aftercare Coordinator perfecting your aftercare plan, collaborating and brainstorming with therapists and peers about triggers and how to deal with them, and finally, making concrete, big-picture decisions about what’s next for you.
