Our culture is obsessed with quick fixes. We have computers in our pockets that put the world at our fingertips, so it’s no surprise everyone is looking for the fastest way to lose weight, the one secret short-cut to getting in shape, or the quickest and easiest way to learn a new skill. Time for a reality check: there is no shortcut to sobriety and no fast track to recovery. At Lakeview Health, we believe that our aftercare programs are an important part of maintaining sobriety after completion of one of our Florida addiction treatment programs.
During your treatment here, you’ll learn tools and strategies to get sober, but the real test happens when you take those tools out into the world. Starting shortly after admission to one of our Florida addiction treatment centers, you’ll begin a constructive dialogue with your Aftercare Coordinator and create your post-treatment sobriety plan. Our aftercare programs help you adjust to life after rehab to help sustain your sobriety while minimizing the chance of relapse.
Alcohol & Drug Aftercare Programs for Recovery
From the moment you enter any of the substance abuse treatment programs at Lakeview Health, our Aftercare Program team begins planning your successful re-entry into the world. Our mission is to help you live a sober life. Our commitment to you continues long after your time here through our aftercare programs. We’re with you for the long haul.
We will follow through on this commitment to you through our alumni network that offers continued peer support and Certified Recovery Coaching. When you need some fellowship and support —as you will, because no one can do this on their own — we promise to be here for you. One month, six months, one year, five years—when you reach out for help, we’ll respond and mobilize all available resources to help you meet whatever challenge is in front of you.
Every aftercare plan is tailored specifically for each individual who completes our program. Below are the different options of aftercare we assist in coordinating:
Also known as a halfway house, transitional living or recovery residences, these are usually apartments or houses offering support and establishing a sense of community in early recovery. Houses are usually monitored by house managers or behavioral health techs who are tasked with administering drug and alcohol tests and ensuring residents are following the rules of the house. Most houses require residents keep the home clean, abide by curfew, attend a set amount of 12 Step or support group meetings, and most importantly remain clean and sober. The goal of sober living is to help the individual learn how to live a healthy life while staying sober. While sober living is not covered by insurance, our aftercare coordinators will help find a house that works within the individual’s means.
Intensive Outpatient / Outpatient
Partial Hospitalization Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs provide patients with more independence than a residential addiction treatment program. These programs, which lasts for 4-6 weeks, becomes an option once an individual has returned home, or can be done in conjunction with a sober living home arrangement. Typically, intensive outpatient consists of one 3-hour group session at least three times a week. In addition, one individual session is completed with a therapist weekly. With programming also comes additional accountability, so clients are screened for drugs and alcohol multiple times a week. When the client becomes more comfortable navigating their recovery, they transition into a fully outpatient treatment program consisting of a single 3-hour group session and a weekly individual session, and they continue to have drug and alcohol screenings. Intensive Outpatient / Outpatient facilities work with insurance and our aftercare coordinators will work to find ones that work best for the patient’s policy.
Individual therapy affords patients the opportunity to work one-on-one with a therapist. This typically occurs once a week, but many therapists will adjust meeting times to suit the needs of the patient. The primary benefit of this aftercare plan is having a therapist available who focuses specifically on the needs of the individual, which allows maximized outcomes for the encounter. Many therapists work with insurance, or alumni coordinators will work to find one who works best for the individual’s policy.
Many times, psychiatric follow-ups are important when managing medications. By establishing a working relationship with a psychiatrist, patients ensure they keep up with psychiatric medications and are able to speak with a doctor to monitor their progress if any changes are needed. Aftercare coordinators can find a psychiatrist who accepts and works best with an individual’s policy, and make the transition of care easier for the patient.
Support groups are available for almost any situation. Groups such as AA, NA, and CA are available for addicts and alcoholics, and groups covering life’s issues such as grief, trauma, and loss are also available. Our aftercare coordinators will help locate a support group that best fits the individual’s needs.
