As we prepare for Hurricane Ian, we want to share the steps we take to keep our patients and staff safe. Lakeview is not located in an evacuation area and we will remain on campus and continue running programming. We have experienced tropical storms and hurricanes many times before and have protocols in place.

Tropical Storm Protocol

If we experience a tropical storm, all programming continues as normal with the exception of off campus activities. We cancel off site activities to reduce driving in the storm. Our PHP and IOP patients will stay at our main facility to reduce driving as well.

Hurricane protocol

If we experience a hurricane, we initiate a team of staff to come in and work through the storm. This team is comprised of staff from every department so patient care will continue. We initiate a special program schedule designed for use during a hurricane. We cancel off site activities to reduce driving in the storm. Our PHP and IOP patients will house at our main facility to reduce driving as well.

On-site generators

If we lose power during a tropical storm or hurricane, we use generators on-site to keep our kitchen, medication rooms, and other areas of the facility running with ease. There is no disruption to meal service or medications.

Communications

Our patients and staff are given updates and frequent communication before and during tropical storms and hurricanes, so they understand what to expect and feel safe and prepared. Our patients are also encouraged to speak with family and keep them updated as well. Our staff will communicate with families to keep them up to date as well. We also post updates on our social media platforms.

Currently, it is too soon to tell which protocol we will be initiating, but hopefully this gives some clarity about what might occur moving forward. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the primary therapist you have been working with.
