GAINESVILLE SUBSTANCE ABUSE STATISTICS

Gainesville is Florida’s biggest city, located in the central area of the state. It’s known best as being the home of the University of Florida and the Gators (and Gatorade), giving way to may visitors and tourists over the years.

Unfortunately, as the opioid crisis has consistently been making Florida headlines, Gainesville has not been left unscathed. According to Gainesville substance abuse statistics, the percentage of opioid overdoses in Gainesville and Braselton rose a staggering 148%, and the projection for 2017 was even worse.

And more and more we see talk of other drug addiction numbers rising, forcing law enforcement and lawmakers to double their efforts. Narcan (an inhaler that induces detox) is being used more and more for overdoses in Florida, and some ambulances find themselves re-stocking it frequently.

In recent years, the Governor and Attorney General of Florida have been making great strides in the fight against the opioid crisis and other substance abuse issues. Last year they filed a lawsuit against manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of opioids. This also includes any medical professionals who misrepresent opioid use or fill suspicious orders for the drug.

Additionally, a new bill is in the works that, if approved, will allow lawyers to have access to the prescription drug database. The database helps to protect doctors from being shopped by drug dealers, but it also keeps doctors who are selling prescription drugs illegally from getting caught. With this new bill, lawyers would be able to obtain the evidence that they need for such cases.

But while the government and the lawmakers are making war on the distributors, manufacturers, and sellers of opioids and other drugs, those who are addicted and dying still need to be cared for. And that’s where we come in.

Addiction Treatment Programs at Lakeview Health

Here at Lakeview Health, our only concern is that you are getting the proper treatment you need to safely recover from drug or alcohol addiction and find your way to a better life.

We firmly believe that there is life after addiction, and as you are alive and breathing, it is never too late to get the help you need.

We have a variety of treatment programs available, and each one will be tailored to your unique needs. If you live in Gainesville and are looking for a rehab and recovery center that has your wellbeing in mind, we are in Jacksonville and are only an hour and a half away by car. You can call us any time at 866.704.7692.

Detox

After a brief intake period, you will go through a medical detox program. Before you can begin to move on after addiction, you must rid yourself of drugs and alcohol still left in your system. This process is going to take a few days, depending on what you were addicted to and how long. It may take four or five days, but it could be longer, too.

Detox can be a painful process, and it can come with some nasty withdrawal symptoms and side effects, some of which can be dangerous if not appropriately monitored.

Our licensed medical professionals at Lakeview will monitor your detox process 24 hours a day, possibly intervening with non-habit forming medication to help ease any symptoms you may experience. This ensures that you make it safely through your detox period without any further damage to your system.

Inpatient Rehab Program

The program you participate in after detox largely depends on how severe your addiction was, and whether you have medical issues that still need to be monitored.

If you fall into that category, we have an inpatient rehab program that has helped many patients in the past and can also help you. Just as they did during detox, our medical staff will continue to supervise your overall health and any other medical issues you have.

You won’t have to worry about feeling like you’re living in a hospital, though, as we’ve created a home-like environment for all our patients. There are two separate facilities for men and women, as each gender has unique and different treatment needs.

We provide at least six hours of structured therapy every day, which includes:

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is generally for those who have made it through detox and inpatient rehab and are ready to take on the world. It’s also for patients who didn’t need the intensive care that the inpatient program provides.

In the IOP, you’ll still receive structured therapy at our facility for a minimum of three hours a day, while the rest of your time will be spent at home, work, or school.

Being back out in the world free from your addiction helps you to use the coping mechanisms you’ve learned in real-world situations, while also providing a daily connection with our support staff at Lakeview. Meanwhile, you will also work on transitioning to seeing your primary doctors, as well as other external providers.

/Aftercare Program

As you may have guessed by now, recovering from drug and alcohol addiction is not going to be a quick fix. It probably took many, many years for your addiction to develop where it is now.

After your various program treatments have run their course, we’ll work with you and your healthcare providers to develop a brand new Aftercare program, individually designed for you to continue living your life after addiction.

Your Aftercare program may include living in a halfway house for a few years, regular individual therapy with a therapist, psychiatric follow-up, or support groups (such as AA, NA, or CA).

No matter what, we’ll be there with you for however long you need us to be. Call us now at 866.704.7692 to discuss your treatment options with us so we can help you with whatever you need to overcome your addiction.

Our Family Support Program

At Lakeview Health, we don’t just help patients who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We provide support and resources for their loved ones through our Family Support Program.

Addiction doesn’t only affect the addict. It is a disease that reaches beyond the confines of a person’s body and latches onto anyone nearby, which is usually the addict’s friends, family, and coworkers.

Just as every addict is different and the effects of drug abuse vary, so it does with the addict’s loved ones. Some may feel afraid, guilty, or angry. Others may have experienced some type of abuse from the addict or were robbed so the addict could buy more drugs. They may have tried to help, but without proper treatment at a rehab facility, there’s only so much they can do.

We at Lakeview feel that family and friends of our patients deserve just as much care. That’s why we offer a three-day family workshop for patients who participate in our residential program. Through this workshop, we help families to learn how to heal the relationships that addiction has cost, so they can mend fences, heal wounds, and restore family balance.

Not only does this help families how to heal and move forward, but it can also greatly benefit our patients on their recovery path. As they mend relationships, a burden is lifted, freeing them from the pain of the mistakes they made while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Lakeview Can Help You and Your Family

Are you tired of hurting your family and friends? Have they tried to help you, but you rejected them? Maybe you stole from them, and they still covered for you when you missed work. Or you yelled at them and told them to stay out of your life, but yet tried to borrow money for drugs.

The possibilities of what addiction can put you and your family through are endless, but there’s hope.

Whatever you may have done to your family through while addicted to drugs or alcohol, it doesn’t have to stay that way. It is possible to get clean, stay clean, and get help for your family as well. Through our various rehab programs and family support, everyone comes out a winner.

You have to take that first step. Once you acknowledge that your addiction is a problem and that you need help, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 866.704.7692. We are here to help you and your loved ones move on and heal from the disease of addiction.
