First Responder Professionals Program
WE KNOW WHAT’S ON THE LINE.
Whether you are a police officer, firefighter, emergency medical technician — Americans count on you to be first on the scene and to keep us safe. But who looks out for you? We do. Our First Responder Professionals program includes the proven techniques Lakeview Health has been known for our Florida addiction treatment programs since our founding in 2001. We help professionals like you get well, and most importantly — get back to doing what you have committed your life to doing — saving lives. What does that mean for you? It means you return to functioning at peak performance, all in a discrete, anonymous and effective way.
EFFECTIVE PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT
We created the First Responder Professionals Program at Lakeview Health because we recognize that the motivations, challenges and influences of accomplished, specialized rescue professionals are very unique. Our mission is to empower profound recovery for those who serve us, in the same profound way you impact lives every day.
Understand how substance misuse may have compromised workplace performance. Learn healthier communication strategies to cope with the specific post traumatic stress first responders experience.
Understand the importance of healthy boundaries and develop a sound plan for returning to the important job of protecting the people who need you the most.
VOCATIONAL IMPACTS AND RELAPSE PREVENTION
Identify the factors distinctive to first responders that pose risks to recovery and sustained sobriety. Learn to recognize triggers, define warning signs and identify patterns of behavior and thought that can lead to relapse, and develop a plan for the future.
PROFESSIONAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Learn to utilize positive and healthy coping skills; the importance of self-care; the importance of sustaining a wellness plan that works.
Our chronic pain treatment center provides new tools to support ways of treating pain from injuries first responders sustain without the opiates that are often prescribed.
Our program specializes in treating post traumatic injury and related disorders that are daily occurrences in your line of work.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Our process starts with a call from a specially trained coordinator. They work with your agency to make arrangements and handle any special requirements. A typical day starts with focusing on physical health — a workout (offered twice per day) in our state-of-the-art Wellness Center. Take a jog around the track, lift weights, or enjoy a rigorous swim. Throughout the day you meet with an interdisciplinary team of certified therapists, physicians, and psychiatrists — trained to support your specific needs individually and in group sessions. When the day is done, you have a comfortable place to rest and recharge for the next day. The design of our men’s spaces such as our sports-themed bistro, library and music room are all very intentional to help set you up for long - term success post-treatment. A rehab aftercare program provides continuing support as you return to your agency and resume working.
