Lakeview Health Welcomes Board-Certified Addiction Medicine and Mental Health Expert Lina Missova, M.D.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 4, 2018) – Lakeview Health, a nationally recognized addiction treatment facility, continues its rapid expansion leading to the addition of board-certified addiction medicine and mental health expert Lina Missova, M.D. ABAM, FASAM, AAFP. She will be practicing at the Jacksonville campus effective September 17, 2018. “Dr. Missova’s demonstrated knowledge and dedication to addiction medicine fits well into Lakeview Health’s culture and values,” said Robert J. Bunker, Lakeview Health’s president and chief executive officer. “We are thrilled to have another board-certified physician on our team providing the best possible care for our patients.” With more than 12 years of experience in family and addiction medicine and fluency in English, Bulgarian and French, Dr. Missova possesses unique skills appealing to a broader range of patients. She will be responsible for administering patient care and implementing the highest quality of treatment at The Star, Lakeview Health’s men’s facility. “I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Lakeview Health team of distinguished providers and contribute towards the fight against the disease of addiction and its associated mental and physical comorbidities. Nowadays addiction is more visible and diagnosed which requires specialized care,” said Dr. Missova. Dr. Missova graduated from the University of Plovdiv Medical School in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where she also completed her postdoctoral residency in pediatrics. Following fellowships in molecular and pediatric endocrinology at University Hospital of Montpellier in France, she relocated to Minneapolis and joined the medical staff at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. She completed her residency in family medicine, then practiced in a hospital-based inpatient MICD unit for 12 years, the last three of which she served as medical director. While practicing at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, she earned awards recognizing excellence in research from the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the Richard B. Carley Award from the HealthEast Foundation. Dr. Missova is board-certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and American Board of Family Medicine.
