Lakeview Health Welcomes Dr. Eric M. Kaplan as Corporate Chief Medical Officer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (July 2, 2018) – Lakeview Health, a nationally recognized addiction treatment facility, announced Eric M. Kaplan, M.D. joined the executive leadership team as Corporate Chief Medical Officer. “Dr. Kaplan’s expertise in managed care will catapult our efforts to expand our value proposition and our working relationships with health plans throughout the country,” said Robert J. Bunker, Lakeview Health’s president and chief executive officer. In his new role at Lakeview Health, Dr. Kaplan, who is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, will be responsible for strengthening Lakeview Health’s medical and clinical treatment programs along with positioning the company to actively measure reportable outcomes. “I’m honored to join the Lakeview Health family and bring my expertise to the table,” said Dr. Kaplan. “The quality of care meets a high level of standards and they continue seeking ways to enhance patient care. We plan to add additional therapies to Lakeview Health’s treatment plans, including a state-of-the-art dual diagnosis treatment tract and providing our patients with transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy (TMS) as an alternative to antidepressant medications.” Dr. Kaplan graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine where he earned the Herman J. Selinsky Psychiatry Award for best performance in psychiatry rotation. While completing his postgraduate education at the University of South Florida, he served as Chief Resident of the Department of Psychiatry, and earned the Chairman’s Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity and the Hibbs-Bourkard Award for being the outstanding resident in psychiatry. He continues his affiliation with the University of South Florida serving the Department of Psychiatry as an associate professor. Dr. Kaplan also held positions as Medical Director of Charter Hospital of Pasco in Lutz, Fla. (1991 – 97); Medical Director of Mental Health Services at St. Augustine Health Care Health Maintenance Organization (1995 – 2000); Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Guardian Life Insurance Company (2014 – present); and Medical Director for Behavioral & Cognitive Services at NeuLife Neurological Rehabilitation in Mt. Dora, Fla. (2016 – present). He is also board certified by the American College of Forensic Examiners, the American Board of Forensic Medicine, and the American Board of Disability Analysts.
